Musicians occupy lower and upper stages beside drums, banners, and inscribed lanterns. At street level, men pull ropes and brace the chassis. A smaller float follows left through the crowd. In the foreground, a blue-and-white fan with a red crest fills the lower left, while floral-robed spectators stand behind barriers. Buildings frame the orange-violet sky. Analysis The float forms a vertical tower against a broad sunset, while pulling ropes create diagonals at its base. Repeated lantern rows mark each architectural level and guide the eye upward. Red, gold, and amber advance from blue-purple sky and pale garments. The foreground fan provides a large semicircular counterweight to the vertical structure. Conclusion At first the float seems like a self-contained monument, but closer viewing reveals movement, sound, labor, and spectatorship at every level. The work succeeds by making traditional craftsmanship active within the present city and by balancing overwhelming height with human-scale participation.
