Description At left, a tall curved tree rises from exposed roots and carries lobed ochre leaves across the upper corner. Slender white-flowered stems stand behind and beside it. The stream enters from the center distance, bends among outlined rocks, and widens toward the lower field. Mossy banks contain gray-green round leaves, rust-colored ferns, small daisylike flowers, and delicate branching foliage. Analysis The stream supplies the central recession, framed by unequal banks and anchored by the tree's strong left vertical. Yellow leaves form a high canopy accent, balanced by rust ferns low on both sides. White flowers repeat from foreground to distance, clarifying scale. Rough moss, flat broad leaves, fine petals, and fluid ripple lines establish different textures while maintaining the restrained autumnal harmony. Interpretation and Evaluation The scene treats seasonal transition as a condition of continuity rather than decline.
